Activities are directed at the water cycle, the amount and quality of water resources, and transport and decomposition of xenobiotic substances in the aquatic environment, focusing mainly on the groundwater. The activities also form the basis for advisory services to authorities, regions and municipalities in Denmark and abroad
National monitoring of Danish groundwater resources, operation of the Danish Pesticide Leaching Assessment Programme and national water resources modelling.
Groundwater surveying and mapping of areas vulnerable to nitrate and pesticide leaching and runoff to the groundwater.
Modelling the water cycle and the transport of substances, including exchanges between groundwater and surface water and associated ecosystems.
Studies of the transport and transformation of xenobiotics in the aquatic environment and the soil for use in groundwater protection.
Research into water and soil remediation with microbial methods and in situ remediation methods.
Courses in hydrological modelling for the public sector and the consultancy sector, as well as international capacity building within research and water resources management.
Knowledge to optimise the Danish water resources management, including implementation of the Water Framework Directive, and integrated and adaptive water resources management.
